The importance of broad spectrum prevention

There are many serious consequences of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack, heart failure, and even death. The aim of cardiovascular disease management is to protect against these various complications. Some therapeutic agents are limited by focusing on a single aspect of cardiovascular disease, such as heart failure. Others have demonstrated a broad spectrum of prevention, meaning they have been shown to reduce the risk of many serious complications of cardiovascular disease, including:

  • Heart attack
  • Stroke
  • Heart failure
  • Death from cardiovascular disease
